The Club meets on the second Monday of every month at a named venue, over the Winter season. Various talks, presentations and discussions on a variety of flying related topics take place as well as tales told of flights achieved. The Annual General Meeting of the Club generally takes place early in the year, where the Club officials report for the past year, and are elected for the forthcoming year. At the AGM various presentations are made for the past year’s achievements, especially flying success.
A pilots’ preparation course is offered for those pilots aiming to improve their flying status, along with the BHPA Pilot Exam.
A BHPA Coaching Course is hosted within the Club area, or a link to a Coaching Course within the region provided.
Likewise a First Aid Course is attempted at regular intervals, depending on demand.
During the year, members are encouraged to take part in local and national competitions.
All newcomers are welcome, we are a friendly bunch who will happily help out anyone who asks. Sometimes regional inter club competitions are held in the form of camping weekends, which can turn into very social events, especially if the weather is poor.
Other Club social events include ‘Curry Nights’, held in a recommended hotspot in Preston, as well as flying social weekends. In recent years a weekend 'Penninefest' has been organised at Chipping Showground.
